Last Tuesday was Crossover day, the 30th and last day to pass legislation in the originating chamber. Bills that did not pass their originating chamber are dead unless they find new life by being attached to bills that were passed.

Governor Perdue Requests Expedited Presidential Declaration
Governor Sonny Perdue today announced that he has asked President Bush for an expedited major disaster declaration to assist the City of Atlanta and Fulton County with recovery efforts in the wake of storms that hit the city on Friday, March 14 and Saturday, March 15, 2008. If approved, this declaration will provide federal funds for emergency response measures and aid for losses.

AMERICAN RED CROSS UNIFIED SERVICE CENTER OPEN 9:00 AM-6:00 PM DAILY UNTIL ALL NEEDS ARE MET
The American Red Cross, in conjunction with the City of Atlanta and the Salvation Army, opened a Unified Service Center Monday March 17 at Beulah Baptist Church, 170 Griffin St, Atlanta, Georgia 30314, for people impacted by the recent tornado.

Fayette County Children in need of clothing
I am sending you information about a wonderful resource this agency has developed. This includes a summary of the project, a referral/request form, a partner agreement, and general project guidelines for your information. It is called Project A.C.F.A.S.C., which stands for "Appropriate Clothing For All School Children." This is the only project of its' kind in Georgia. Here is how it works:

I'm not a big fan of the emails that tell you the horrible things that will befall you if you don't forward that particular email to a million friends in under 3 minutes. Usually you get some sappy message first, or something that pulls your faith strings, then they hit you with the whammy.

Floral Photography Workshop
The workshop at the Fayette Art Center on floral photography and introducing the Lensbaby is all set. April 26 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. I will present a workshop on floral photography. The class will concentrate on macro techniques to give you those big, bold, extra-close images that are so powerful.
