Special Olympics Torch Run, Wed. May 28th

FFP note: This is an email from Debbie Parrish, Fayette County Rec. Dept. She said it so well we opted not to re-write as a story and just use as a letter! It's great to have someone so enthusiastic about her job working for the county. Ms. Parrish and others on the staff in the Rec. Dept. do a fantastic job of keeping us posted on all the happenings at the county. Just another reason to love living in this county!

The Special Olympics Torch Run will be coming through FAYETTE COUNTY ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 28TH! Law enforcement officials will be running different legs of the Torch Run through Fayetteville, PTC, and Tyrone!

I'm looking for athletes to participate in the run, again, this year! If your athlete is interested in running in the torch run, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS POSSIBLE!

Your athlete will not be running the entire route...depending upon where they are participating, we will put them at different areas and they can join in on the run with the officials.

**The Fayetteville route (for the athletes) will be along Hwy 54 (from Jonesboro side) heading towards the Administration Complex.
**The Tyrone Route will be from Crestwood Baptist Church (on Senoia Road) to Town Hall.

Times are:
Fayetteville Route - we will have a meeting place determined and all athletes should be there by 9:15am...the running should begin by 9:30am
PTC Route - the will enter the park (behind City Hall) at 11:15am
Tyrone - we will have a meeting place determined and all athletes should be there by 12pm...the running should begin about 12:10pm.

The law enforcement officials raise so much money throughout the entire state! I encourage ALL OF YOU to come out and watch the torch head into every location! As far as I understand, there will be breaks and/or small ceremonies at Town Hall (Tyrone); the park behind City Hall (PTC); the gazebo at the Administration Complex - across from the old court house (Fayetteville). Those would be the best places to congregate and cheer everyone on as they run by!

Thanks!
