9/5/08 Georgia State School Superintendent Kathy Cox wanted to prove she was smarter than a 5th grader, and tonight she did just that. Cox impressed everyone as she emphasized "Just go for it" when talking about the importance of school. She stressed the need for students to stay in school and get their diploma. Jeff Foxworthy, the host of "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?", stated he watched Cox with tears in her eyes as she said, "Do your best." Cox did her best and answered the question on the longest reigning British monarch, Queen Victoria to win the one million dollar prize. Cox is the first contestant in the show's history to go the distance and be able to say, "I am smarter than a 5th grader."
Cox intends to donate the money she won to various Georgia schools including the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and the Georgia Academy for the Blind. Cox lives in Peachtree City.
